The guesthouse was completed in January, 2016, and as so often happens, was a stepchild of the original intent for the building. Designed for a climate controlled storeroom to hold my belongings once I retired and moved back to Llano it soon sparked another interest as soon as I set up the king-sized bedroom set. Divine intervention is yet a more accurate accounting of how it came to be!
The property is situated on land that was gifted to my maternal grandmother, Bertha Hartsher Schneider, when she was about 3 ½ years old and has been held by our family since the late 1800’s. She married Max Schneider and the nearby Schneider Slab is to his credit. My mother, Helen Schneider Kassell, inherited the land and lovingly cared for it until her death in 2012.
It has been ‘home’ or ‘home away from home’ to many of our family members for decades and my hope is that once you’ve stayed here you’ll carry that feeling forward as well!
